So inspired!

Cherry inspired me this morning with her post about Tuscany so I thought I would share a little family history and our ties to the vineyards. Not my history persay but the history I married into and my children’s history.  Husband’s grandparents come over thru Ellis Island in 1912 and arrived aboard the Lapland:

Husband’s Grandfather was an engineer in Germany and from all accounts they were very well off and as most of the family I know, extremely intelligent and educated.  However, Grandpa didnt want to be a famous engineer … he wanted to make wine.  And so he set out and ended up having quite a lovely vineyard.  Here is a great  picture

…take note of the knarled trunks of those very old grapevines.  Husband and I were so fortunate to visit the vineyard (no longer in the family) 5 years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary. It was just lovely to see and imagine what work and sweat went into building such a fine stand of grapes.

We had an amazing week just the two of us.   We stayed in a little cottage and strolled and shopped and relaxed!

This year will be 30 years of wedded bliss!  Yes, seems like yesterday!  So, who knows what we will do this year?  Where we will go?  It really all depends on how my mom is doing.  We have a family vacation to Williamsburg planned for about that time so it maybe we will all go there and then make #31 extra special with just the two of us. Honestly they are all very special.  I am truly so blessed.

Okay, i have packed my bags and I’m moving into the cottage. It is to perfect. I love it. Thanks for the info on your family. Very interesting. I can’t wait to see what all the products you will have. I can’t wait for the aprons.
I hope you and your hubby have a wonderful anniversary.
Have a good one.
