Christmas Traditions

I am wondering what Christmas Traditions are unique to your family? Care to share? One I tried to start several times but sometimes get distracted is to watch a different Christmas movie every night from December 1 to Christmas Eve. So I am going to try it again this year. Here is my list. I will cross them off as I go. They are in no particular order but I DO love Elf. Love it.

Now one of my favorite quotes from Elf: “We elves like to stick to the four main food groups: candy, candy canes, candy corn and syrup.

I, too, LOVE the movie ELF. When he downs the whole 2-ltr. of coke and then belches for like an entire minute, I roll on the floor laughing! I am a sucker for silly humor like that, I’m embarrassed to say.

Our tradition revolves around I’ts a Wonderful Life. Our family and my husband’s brother’s family have a contest every season to see who can watch I’ts a Wonderful Life the most! We also buy each other funny little gifts that are relevent to the movie. Happy Holidays!

What a lovely idea! One of my favorite things about Christmastime is that we get to dust off our holiday movies that have been pushed to the back of the cabinet off-season 🙂 If you’re thinking about adding a little nostalgia to your collection, try the DVD set of the Original Christmas Classics (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Frosty the Snowman, just to name a few)! You can get this limited keepsake edition set at any place that sells DVDs, and it even comes with a bonus music CD! You can also get it at It reminds me of curling up with my brother and sister and watching Rudolph on VHS when we were younger 🙂 This set will fulfill a week of your special Christmas tradition! I work with Classic Media, and I highly suggest you check it out! Let me know how everything goes; have a lovely holiday!

I love Elf, too. My son, who is 6’5″ tall, loves to go up the escalators the way Will Ferrell does in the movie – cracks me up every time.

I love the Christmas movies as well. I’m afraid it’s become a tradition in our home to watch Home Alone every year and A Christmas Story. They are my favourites! (I do love some of the old ones as well though)

Missy and I have to watch White Christmas together. It’s our favorite Christmas movie. Then comes Miracle on 34th St, A Wonderful Life, and Going My Way.
