The winds of change are ablowin’

There is much going on and I am trying to consolidate things in order to actually complete some things!  I am sure you all know what I mean, even though it makes little sense reading it back.   I am trying my best to finish my Pies book.  Trying SO hard.  And it is coming together.  It ’s just taking longer than I can ever plan for it to.  Plus we mostly do pie photos on the weekends now.  My “girl friday” has left me to take a paying job.  I am so happy for her.  She is now employed at our local newspaper  in charge of Advertising & Layout Production with her own office and everything.  Not too shabby for a 17 year old homeschool girl huh?   It just dropped in her lap and she really was thrilled to have to opportunity to exersize her creativeness while earning a pay check.  But it means she is working 8-5+ and then has schoolwork when she gets home, starting the first week of September so, photo shoots will just have to take a back seat.  But its cool because I have been the one holding things up!  And of course, not even being finished with this book I have about 12 more swimming around in my brain.  But I have promised myself to finish this one first…get it out there and then on to the next project.  I am thinking I might have to learn to use the camera some too!  Which will be fun.  And something I have been wanting to do.

AND Husband comes home this Thursday so I am off to the grocery store this afternoon to stock up.

Don’t forget about the Friday Baking challenges. I am not getting much response so if you would like to leave me some ideas about how to make it more appealing, feel free.  Those who participate – THANK YOU!  It ’seems like a great idea.  Just may be too hard to participate.  I will give it another few weeks and if it doesn’t pick up, then I might reevaluate it.

I have really enjoyed participating in the baking challenge. I haven’t done much to participate the last couple of months because it has been so hot here. We don’t have AC and I haven’t wanted to use the oven unless I have to. If you choose to discontinue it, maybe you could start again when the weather is cooler.

I really think I am just going to keep on keeping on. I enjoy it – a lot and if there is just one or two of us now then we will just do our best! Thanks for leaving me a note – no air!? WOW I admire you! I don’t know if we would make it here without air conditioning!

So for now…participate when you can and maybe you can pick up in the fall when it is cooler.

Hi Susan,
I wanted to let you know that I love the Friday Baking series. I have baked quite a bit from it. As usual I am always a day late and a dollar short on getting it posted to my much neglected blog. So while I never seems to be organized enough to post or take a picture I am going right along. Off to can beans and tomatoes. Well not together. :-)

I am loving your new look Susan. Congrats to the girl on her job! Well done! I feel for you with your book. I am working on a second one myself, and there just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day. I really love your baking group, but haven’t had the time these past few weeks with my boss coming home and then the hot weather makes one feel quite ugh too. I hope to get into the swing of it soon though, as I love the idea and the recipes you pick are great!


I’m glad you are going to continue with Friday Baking with Not Quite June Cleaver. I live in the high desert of CA and we don’t have a frost free period here. It can freeze any day (or night) of the year here. We just open up the windows at night and cool the house off and close them in the morning. It works most of the year so AC is not really necessary. I realize that our growing seasons might be a little bit different but have you considered some more seasonal type recipes? Maybe something we can do with the bounty from our gardens since we are already trying to find uses for it.
