Double Chocolate Cookies

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • Garnish: additional sugar

In a large bowl, mix sugar, brown sugar, butter and eggs.  In another bowl, whisk remaining ingredients except chocolate chips and garnish.  Add flour mixture to sugar mixture and combine until well blended.  Stir in chocolate chips.  Form dough into one-inch balls; roll in additional sugar.  Place on ungreased baking sheets.  Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes.  Makes 3 dozen.

My notes: I used mixed sized semi and bittersweet chocolate chips.  I baked a pan for 9 minutes and next batch at 8.  Personally the 8 minutes was much better.

DELISH!  SUPER EASY!  What more could you want??? Enjoy!

Happy Baking Peeps! And best of luck – I wish you could all win!  However since that’s not possible, as soon as we all congratulate the winner on tomorrow, and if you are not that lucky duck, zip over to Gooseberry Patch and get yourself a copy of 101 Cookie, Cupcake & Brownie Recipes.  Oh heck ~ go ahead and order several – they make great gifts for all your foodie friends!  Now leave me a comment and get your name in!
